Sarcastic Use of TFTI
Imagine you see a photo on Instagram of your friend at some event you wanted to go to. You might feel compelled to leave a comment saying “Thanks for inviting me! I would have loved to go.”, but you could instead say “TFTI”, which is a sarcastic, somewhat passive aggressive and much more immature way of saying the same thing!
Do people say TFTI out loud?
No; they simply say “thanks for the invite”.

We don’t when exactly TFTI was first used, but it was first posted to Urban Dictionary in 2010. There are no results for the term on Google prior to 2009, so it was probably coined sometime during 2009.
